Change Through Christ: A 7-Day Devotion

Change Through Christ is possible. It is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here! (Read 2 Corinthians 5 in full here)

I thought it would be a good idea to give you a 7-Day Devotional to help you work on embracing that change Christ has placed in you. Sometimes it’s good to take personal time in working on your relationship with Jesus Christ. In that work and walk in understanding change through Christ, we get closer, know more about Christ. Below is what I hope is a great asset to you and your family for the upcoming week:

7-Day Devotional Plan: Change in Christ

Day 1: Sunday, July 28 – Embracing New Beginnings

  • Bible Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • Lesson to be Learned: Embracing the new life in Christ means letting go of the old ways and trusting in His transformation. We are made new in Him.
  • Activity: Write a letter to yourself about the old habits and thoughts you want to leave behind and the new ways you want to embrace in Christ.
  • Prayer: Lord, help me to embrace the new beginnings You have for me. Transform my heart and mind to align with Your will. Amen.

Day 2: Monday, July 29 – Renewing Your Mind

  • Bible Scripture: Romans 12:2
  • Lesson to be Learned: Renewing our minds through God’s Word leads to a transformed life. By focusing on His truth, we can discern His perfect will.
  • Activity: Spend 10 minutes meditating on a favorite Bible verse and journal how it changes your perspective.
  • Prayer: Father, renew my mind with Your truth. Help me to think on things that are pure and lovely, and to discern Your will in my life. Amen.

Day 3: Tuesday, July 30 – Casting Off Old Ways

  • Bible Scripture: Ephesians 4:22-24
  • Lesson to be Learned: Putting off the old self and putting on the new self in Christ requires intentional effort and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
  • Activity: Identify a specific old habit you want to change and create a plan to replace it with a Christ-like behavior.
  • Prayer: Jesus, give me the strength to cast off my old ways and to put on the new self that reflects Your righteousness and holiness. Amen.

Day 4: Wednesday, July 31 – Living by the Spirit

  • Bible Scripture: Galatians 5:16-17
  • Lesson to be Learned: Walking by the Spirit means allowing Him to guide our actions and decisions, resisting the desires of the flesh.
  • Activity: Take a walk outside, focusing on listening to the Holy Spirit and praying for His guidance in your life.
  • Prayer: Holy Spirit, guide my steps and lead me in Your ways. Help me to live by Your power and not by my flesh. Amen.

Day 5: Thursday, August 1 – Overcoming Temptation

  • Bible Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • Lesson to be Learned: God provides a way out of every temptation. Trust in His faithfulness and seek His strength to overcome.
  • Activity: Write down a recent temptation you faced and how God helped you overcome it. If you fell into it, write down how you can rely on God next time.
  • Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in providing a way out of temptation. Help me to rely on Your strength to overcome. Amen.

Day 6: Friday, August 2 – Serving Others

  • Bible Scripture: Philippians 2:3-4
  • Lesson to be Learned: True change in Christ leads us to serve others selflessly, putting their needs above our own.
  • Activity: Find a way to serve someone today, whether through a kind act, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement.
  • Prayer: Jesus, teach me to serve others with humility and love. Help me to put their needs above my own, reflecting Your heart. Amen.

Day 7: Saturday, August 3 – Reflecting Christ’s Love

  • Bible Scripture: John 13:34-35
  • Lesson to be Learned: The change in Christ is most evident through our love for one another. This love is the mark of true discipleship.
  • Activity: Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and express Christ’s love through a kind message or a phone call.
  • Prayer: Lord, may Your love shine through me. Help me to love others as You have loved me, so that the world may see You in me. Amen.
