Finding Faith means opening up about the lessons learned in life that make us who we are. If I’m being real with you, the biggest lesson I learned earlier in life is this: if you want to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve got to be completely available. Not just when it’s convenient, not just when you feel like it. God asks for all of us. And when we say yes, even with trembling hands, He does something incredible. Today we travel to Isaiah 6:8.

What Availability Teaches Us
I think about it like this: the moments I’ve grown most in my faith were not the times when everything made sense, but the times I said, “Okay Lord, I don’t know where this is going, but I’ll go.” I’ve been preaching for 20 years. This is basically my life in a nutshell (haha).
Maybe you’ve had those moments too. The late-night phone call from a friend. The opportunity to pray for someone at work. The nudge to step into a ministry role you didn’t feel ready for. Those are the times God shows us that being available is the real deal. That’s one of the lessons learned in life I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Bible Reading To Consider
Isaiah 6:8 – Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Finding Faith in Liturgy: A Moment of Prayer
- Call: Lord, who will go for You today?
- Response: Here we are, Lord, send us.
- Call: Teach us to offer ourselves fully.
- Response: We are available for Your will.
- Call: Use our lives as vessels of Your grace.
- Response: We belong to You, Lord Jesus.
A Prayer on Lessons Learned in Life
Lord Jesus, thank You for the little lessons and the big lessons that keep shaping my heart. I know I’ve missed opportunities when I wasn’t paying attention or when I thought I was too busy. Forgive me for the times I’ve chosen my comfort instead of Your calling.
Teach me to see that serving You doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes it’s sitting quietly with someone who’s hurting, sometimes it’s speaking up when I’d rather stay silent, and sometimes it’s just showing up when I don’t feel like I have much to give. Those moments matter to You, Lord.
Help me be the kind of person who’s ready at any time, with an open heart that says, “Here am I. Send me.” I want to walk into each day with that kind of faith. Keep me aware, keep me humble, and keep me willing. Thank You for trusting me with even the smallest task in Your kingdom. I give You my time, my hands, my words, and my heart. Use me for Your glory, Lord. Amen.
