Praying, But Still Angry? Be Patient

It’s been a journey for me through the job market as of late. It appears as if I don’t meet the mark for no one.

I’ll get interviews that I feel are already full of bias when it comes to gender and race, but I put my best foot forward because hey, their Recruiter contacted me. We do the interview, works out well, and I wait. It’s the waiting part, right? The part that really gets us all going. This is where God works though. There are reasons for that.

I’m Praying, And I Hear Ya, But…

Praying, but still angry, praying for hope

First, understand that every opportunity is not your opportunity. It may look good, but money may be right. However, there’s a reason why the job is open. What happened to the last person? Why did he/she leave? I ask all these questions. God maybe saved you from drama you don’t need in your life. Don’t get flustered, that’s where mistake happen.

And then there are the rejection emails. Since May 31st I’ve received at least 10. Each time I get one I go for a walk. Why? The anger of course. I need the work. I don’t know why I wasn’t hired. Sometimes, I don’t even care, I just keep it moving. Why? The anger. And so I pray. I pray because I know the Lord sees what’s going on and I have to remember that. I have to tell myself that each and every day. Even as I write this post I know maybe four people might see it and that’s fine. I’m still going to pray!

The Bible talks a great deal about waiting on him. If you believe that Jesus is Lord over your life, then it’s important to remember you have no control. You are to make the right choices, but God has the final authority. When you hear yourself saying, “What am I going to do?” ask “What is God showing me right now”. Here are some verses to remember:

  1. Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
  2. Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
  3. Lamentations 3:25-26 – “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
  4. Psalm 37:7 – “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
  5. Micah 7:7 – “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”

Stay encouraged, like me. Let’s see what the Lord does. I pray for you if you’re unemployed like me. Here’s my prayer for you:

Dear Lord, we come before You today seeking comfort and strength for those who are unemployed. Please grant them patience during this challenging time, and help them find peace in the waiting. Guide them toward opportunities that align with their skills and passions, and reassure them that Your plan is always greater than their own. May they feel Your presence in their search and find hope in each new day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
