When I think about my morning routine, I think about what it living unbothered in God’s peace really means.
I usually wake up around 6:30 or 7 a.m. and get myself ready for the gym. Once I’m there, I focus on me and not the world. I also make it a point to be unavailable during that time. Outside of my wife and sons, no one has access to me. Everyone else can wait. In fact, these boundaries help me start my day in God’s Peace.

That time is intentional.
When I get home, if I don’t have an early meeting, I’ll usually make breakfast for my wife and me. Eventually, I turn on the TV to see what’s happening in the news. After that, I switch over to instrumental music, check my email, and look at what the day’s schedule holds. All of these routines make room in my heart for experiencing true God’s Peace every day.

But there is one thing I have become very intentional about: I do not give energy to anything that is only going to return negativity to me.
That is part of what living unbothered means to me.
Is Living Unbothered In God’s Peace Possible? Yeah.
When I say I live unbothered, I don’t mean that nothing happens to me or that I never feel pressure. I mean Christ has conditioned me differently this year. This new outlook is rooted in God’s Peace supporting me.
I’ve spent this season without a full-time job. Anyone who has experienced that kind of uncertainty knows the stress that can come with it. If you allow it, the questions can haunt you. The pressure can create anxiety. And what starts as a little stress can quickly become chaos. It’s difficult to hold onto peace, but God’s Peace provides a foundation.
I had to remind myself of something deeper: God is my Provider, and I can only produce from His provision.
That realization changed something in me.
Instead of waking up every morning consumed by what I did not have, what had not happened yet, or what I could not control, I began learning how to rest in what God had already provided. Resting in God’s Peace became part of my mornings.
That is where I found God’s peace.
And His peace made my days feel truly brand new. Living in God’s own peace is a daily gift for me now.
When I think about this journey and where God has brought me, I think about the words of Lamentations 3:22–23:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”
Every morning is another reminder that I have not been consumed, and another opportunity to experience God’s Peace anew.
The job situation has not consumed me.
The uncertainty has not consumed me.
The pressure has not consumed me. Through God’s Peace, I have overcome these hardships.
God’s mercy met me again this morning.
And because of that, I can live unbothered, not because life is perfect, but because I have learned where my peace comes from. God’s Peace anchors me.

Let’s Pray Together
Lord Jesus, You have smoothed out my days and quieted my nights. I am thankful for a year that has been peaceful in ways I did not expect. It has not gone exactly how I thought it would, but I am learning that my days are Your days. You have heard my cries, met me in uncertainty, and reminded me that Your grace is still enough. Father, I ask for God’s Peace to rest on us every day.
I pray that each day You make my wife and me better people in our faith and better for one another. Teach us to love with patience, to speak with grace, to forgive quickly, and to keep You at the center of our home, always holding onto God’s Peace in every season.
Thank You for grace. So many times, I know I did not deserve it, yet You gave it anyway. Each time, Your forgiveness revealed more of God’s Peace to me.
There were seasons when it was hard to look like an open Bible for people to read because, inside, I felt like I was living through a horror story. It was difficult to reflect hope when I was trying to find my own. But that was then, and this is now. I see God’s Peace was with me even in the hardest moments.
I am thankful even for the dark traverses, because they taught me that darkness is not the end of the journey. On the other side, there is always light. There is always another morning. There is always another reminder of Your faithfulness, and the reality of God’s Peace remains steady.
So I pray this for anyone who is “going through it” right now. Lord, meet them where they are. Calm the thoughts that will not slow down. Strengthen the heart that feels tired. Give them peace in the places that feel uncertain, let them deeply know God’s Peace, even when it feels impossible.
Remind them that this chapter is not the whole story. Remind them also that God’s Peace can meet them right where they are.
Let them know that they are still being carried, still being covered, and still being guided. Let God’s Peace comfort them each and every step.
And when they reach the other side, let them look back and see that You were there the entire time, your hand of God’s Peace steady in the storm.
Amen.
