“Stay Prayed Up.” I could literally stop the post right here and ya’ll would get it. It’s 10:20 at night and it’s a rainy Pennsylvania night. My family has gone to bed and I’m downstairs typing this because I was moved to do so. Why? Maybe someone needed this confirmation. Even as my Yorkie barks from the Second floor I know you needed to read this.
It’s a lesson I’ve learned after 20 years of ministry. If you’re doing good, great – Stay prayed up. Doing bad? do the same.
Again, I could stop the post right here. There’s really not much more left to say. For me, prayer is the priority. When life throws everything at you that’s bad, when the love of your life looks at you in doubt, and when the answers are not coming I turn to prayer. I’m always a little weary of people who don’t say “I don’t know”. Even if you don’t pray there should be a least one of those in your life. Because we don’t know everything.
With that, I stay prayed up. I pray because I do not want to be the final answer on anything. My wife needs to hear that, and so do my kids. She knows the Lord leads me and trusts in my relationship with Christ just like she trusts in her own. My children are the same.
Maybe you’re out there right now and it’s down to the last couple of seconds on that clock of life you’re looking at. You need a play, but you also know the play you make determines the game. Here’s what I want you to do: Pray, then make the play. Some of the NFL’s greatest games are finishes where someone just made a play.
Stay Prayed Up: 3 Reasons
Why do this? Here are my three reasons you say it and then BELIEVE IT: First, it keeps you aware of your relationship with Jesus Christ. Things are going to happen, and a response might/will be needed. If you tell yourself this phrase first, it puts things in their proper order. Pray, then respond. Better yet, how about you just wait before the response ok? God will do what He does: Make a way.
Second, it activates your faith. When you encourage someone or yourself to stay prayed up, it lets people know that you’re not leading yourself, you’re led by Christ. Finally, staying prayed up helps your mental, physical health. You’re not overeating, making poor decisions, and you’re not a victim of deception.
So yeah, that’s the quote that gives you all an outlook of my life: Prayed up. Nothing fancy or elaborate. Just an Outlaw Preacher who doesn’t fit any narrative trying to help you get to the Cross of Christ.

Heavenly Father,
In this quiet moment, I come before You, seeking Your presence and guidance. Help me to stay aware of Your goodness and grace in every aspect of my life. As the world around me becomes chaotic and distracting, remind me to center my thoughts on You. May my heart remain attuned to Your voice, guiding my steps and decisions each day.
Lord, teach me the importance of staying in prayer, not just in times of need but as a continual practice of my faith. Help me to turn to You in all circumstances, knowing that You are my refuge and strength. Let each moment of prayer deepen my relationship with You, fortifying my spirit and sharpening my focus.
As I navigate the challenges of life, may I be a beacon of Your love and hope to others. Keep me grounded in Your Word, and help me remember that through prayer, I am never alone. Instill in me a relentless spirit to stay prayed up, trusting in Your plan and purpose for my life.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of prayer and the assurance that You are always with me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
