Do Not Worry About Your Life: Trust And Pray

Do not worry about your life. God sees it, He heard it too. If there’s something I used to worry about that I don’t anymore is my life, this “body of work”. I think we all grow into this thought of having it all together. We don’t listen to the wisdom we are told by trusted people. There’s the constant ignoring of physical signs showing us that’s not the way. Still, we persist. I laugh because someone out there thinks I haven’t gone through this.

Ooooh yes, I have. Every preacher thinks they know what they’re supposed to be doing, until you don’t. It takes a lot of breaking down in tears, searching, doubt, anger, yelling, shouting at the sky until you realize to quit trying do this the world’s way and do it God’s Way. In the end, you just can’t do not worry about your life on your own strength and that’s okay.

What way is that? Whatever Jesus Christ shows ya. You can also check out my Prayer Guide About Worry here.

Do Not Worry About Your Life: Jesus Said So

Jesus says this in Matthew 6: 25-27. Here, Jesus brings out that we really should not worry at all about your life, trusting deeply in God’s care.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

1. The Productivity Trap: Why Worrying is a Waste of Time

We live in a culture obsessed with hustle, planning, and controlling every single variable. We treat anxiety like a mandatory fee for being a responsible adult. But look at the math Jesus lays out here: not a single hour is added to your lifespan by stressing. The next time you feel that pressure, just remember, do not worry so much about your life, because it changes nothing for the better.

  • The Reality Check: Worry feels like work, but it produces zero results. You are burning emotional calories on problems you cannot solve.
  • The Shift: Stop treating anxiety as a strategy. Real productivity means focusing on what you can actually change today and dropping the heavy lifting of trying to control tomorrow.

2. The Ultimate Imposter Syndrome Cure: You Are More Valuable Than a Sparrow

It is easy to look at nature and feel like you are the only one failing the survival test. The argument here is a brilliant piece of logic: if the universe takes care of the small stuff without a second thought, why assume you are the exception? Remember, when you trust God, you are practicing ‘do not worry about your life’—because He finds you valuable.

  • The Reality Check: You are not micromanaged by a harsh boss; you are looked after by a provider.
  • The Shift: Lean into your intrinsic value. When you realize you matter more than the daily grind, the constant panic of not having enough starts to lose its grip.

3. Minimalism for the Soul: Life is Bigger Than Your To-Do List

We cram our lives full of survival mechanics like what to eat or what to wear, completely forgetting to actually live. Jesus drops a massive question: “Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” These words remind us, again, to do not worry about your life. God’s plans are bigger than our endless tasks.

  • The Reality Check: We have hyper-fixated on the packaging of our lives while ignoring the actual gift inside.
  • The Shift: Downsize your mental clutter. Shift your energy away from survival anxiety and step into the richer experience of enjoying your existence right now.

I don’t think I feel cliche about this, but yeah, God taught me a long time ago with this challenge when I worried so much: “Rick, what is it I have not taken care of for you? Just let me know.”

He provides. I produce from the provision. So no worries. Share you worries in reply here, or check out our International Prayer Chain.

A Prayer If You’re Worried

Heavenly Father,

Right now, I am carrying a weight I was never meant to hold. My mind keeps spinning through “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios, trying to manufacture a sense of control over tomorrow. I look at my to-do list, my responsibilities, and my uncertainties, and fear starts to crowd out my peace. Whenever I feel anxious, remind me do not worry so much about your life, for You hold my future.

Forgive me for the times I rely on my own strength instead of Yours. You look at the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, caring for them effortlessly, yet I so often act like an orphan who has to fend for herself.

Help me to breathe out this anxiety and breathe in Your presence. When the temptation to panic creeps in, gently pull my focus back to the present moment. Give me the wisdom to handle what is in front of me today, and the grace to surrender tomorrow entirely into Your hands.

Remind my heart that my life is worth more than my fears, and that You are bigger than any storm I am facing. Fill me with the quiet, unshakable peace that only You can provide.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
