Today my prayer for you is about praying against anxiety. I know many of you deal with it and today I had my turn.
As I was working on a project around the house I was so focused on doing it right, not upsetting people, and keeping the peace that I allowed my mind to race way too hard. As a result, my chest hurts, my head hurts, and now I’m in a different place trying to get my heart rate down.
This is where you talk to God. You keep yourself calm and move to a space where you can talk to the Lord. It’s a difficult place to be right? You go from being a person that could “roll off” anything and everything and now you’re on medication just to keep your heart rate in a good place when you get upset at the slightest of things. Let me tell you: It’s going to be ok.
As a Disabled Navy Veteran, you might find yourself in a space of private shame. Don’t do that. You might be suffering silently because people might say, “Hey, aren’t you a Christian? I cannot believe you’re worrying!” Guess what? These human bodies are works in progress, made perfect by Jesus Christ. Notice at the first part of this story I didn’t go nuts, I went to the Lord.
Praying against anxiety is something do daily because I want to start my day in the utmost trust and obedience that Jesus Christ sees me and knows my needs. Emotions can get in the way of that. As a result, mistakes are made in what we say and do.

Praying Against Anxiety: I Trust God’s Process, But How Do I Manage Better?
Managing my anxiety is a journey I’m still on, but here’s what I’ve learned:
- You gotta remove yourself from the situation. If you have to be in the area of possible conflict, Use earbuds if it’s something you know that will raise your anxiety.
- Be honest about how you’re feeling. “Hey can we slow down? This is raising my anxiety,” helps too.
- Don’t postpone situations. I cannot deal with “Let’s talk about this Friday” and it’s Monday type of situations.
Hope that helps. Here’s my prayer for those praying against anxiety today:
Lord, help me be better physically at handling situations. I’m not good at this. I want to be better.
I seek your strength and guidance in my daily life, trusting in your promise that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Please grant me the wisdom to recognize my weaknesses and the determination to improve them. I turn to your word for comfort and direction, remembering that “the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14). May I learn to rely on your support as I face challenges that test my physical and emotional limits. Help me to cultivate a spirit of perseverance, as seen in (James 1:2-4), knowing that growth comes through trials. For further inspiration, I reflect on (Proverbs 3:5-6), which reminds us to trust in you wholeheartedly. Amen.
