Finding faith today means learning how to focus better by embracing the moments when life slows down. Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive? Maybe both. But sometimes what feels like “nothing” is actually where God restores everything. Today we travel to Psalm 23:2–3.

The Gift of Stillness and Focus
In a world that glorifies busyness, it’s hard to slow down without feeling guilty. Yet the Bible shows us that God leads us into stillness, not to punish us but to prepare us. Learning how to focus better isn’t just about getting things done. It’s about aligning our hearts with God’s purpose. Through stillness, He teaches us where to place our attention and how to find balance between rest and work.
Some people see the downtime as wasted time. Here’s the deal: I can stay in my house on my couch all day without any guilt. My wife? She loves activity. We often joke about her being an “Adrenaline Junkie” for that. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying things to do, only as long as it’s healthy. But if God wants you to sit down and relax, it will happen, haha.
We often think productivity equals purpose, but Scripture paints a different picture. When we take time to rest, we are reminded of our dependence on God. He wants our focus to come from peace, not pressure. Every time we pause in His presence, our minds clear, and our souls find strength again. And as we grow still before Him, we begin to hear His quiet voice more clearly.
Therefore, don’t rush past rest. When you sit quietly, you’re not being lazy, you’re being led. You’re allowing your Shepherd to refresh your soul. The next time you feel restless or distracted, take a moment to pray. Ask God to calm your heart and guide your thoughts. True focus doesn’t come from willpower alone. It comes from His peace working within you.
If you need extra help finding peace in God, try starting a prayer journal. You can find our template and resources here. You’ll find prayers that help you stay centered, grounded, and focused when life grows noisy.

Psalm 23:2–3 (NIV)
He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.

- Call: When the world shouts for more,
- Response: Let us be still and know that You are God.
Prayer
Father, thank You for showing me how to focus better by slowing me down. You remind me that rest is not weakness but worship. When my mind races with worries and plans, bring me back to Your quiet waters. Help me find joy in the ordinary morning light through my window, the sound of birds outside, or the calm that comes from prayer. Strengthen my heart to stay present in Your peace. Teach me to release what I cannot control and trust Your perfect pace. Renew my focus so that every thought, word, and action reflects Your love. As I rest in You, remind me that faith and focus grow strongest in stillness. Amen.
