Economy Borough, Pa. — A bus carrying members of the Aliquippa Junior High School football team crashed on Saturday, Aug. 23, injuring 21 students and their driver, according to local authorities.
The team bus, which was transporting nearly two dozen middle school athletes, came to rest on its side, officials confirmed. Local reports indicate all those injured were taken to nearby hospitals, and while the injuries are serious, none are believed to be life-threatening.
“The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time,” Economy Borough Chief of Police Michael O’Brien told PEOPLE in a statement.
Parents and community members are thankful that lives were spared but remain deeply concerned for the recovery of the injured. The Aliquippa Junior High School football team holds a special place in the community, and prayers have been lifted for both the students and their driver.

Lord, bring peace to anxious parents and families. Wrap them in Your love, reminding them that You are sovereign and near to the brokenhearted. Strengthen the school and the community as they rally around these students. May this trial lead to deeper unity and trust in You.
