We all hit those stretches where life feels like it is slamming you from every angle. You wake up, and before your feet even hit the floor, you are already feeling the weight of the day. Maybe the bills are stacking up, work is a headache, or you are just plain burned out. It happens to the best of us. You don’t have to pretend you have it all figured out, and you certainly don’t need to try to muscle through the chaos by yourself.
I’ve learned over the years that there is no shame in saying, “I’m done trying to control this.” When you get to that point, you need a different kind of armor. I put together these 10 prayers for strength during difficult times to help you reset when you feel like you are about to snap.

1. When You Feel Totally Buried
God, I am swamped. Everything is hitting me at once, and my head is spinning. I’m asking for some clarity right now. Help me to focus on the one thing that actually matters today and let the rest of the noise fade into the background. I just need enough fuel to get to the end of this shift.
2. When You Need Actual Grit
Lord, I am tired of acting like everything is fine when it clearly is not. I don’t need a miracle that makes life easy, but I do need the internal grit to stay steady. Give me the backbone to stand firm when things get messy. Help me to keep my cool even when I want to walk away.
3. When the Path is Foggy
Father, I have no clue what the right move is here. I’m staring at a problem that has no clear solution, and I’m frustrated. Stop me from making impulsive mistakes. Give me the wisdom to see the situation for what it really is and the patience to wait for the right move instead of forcing a bad one.
4. When You are Running on Empty
God, I am physically and mentally drained. I’ve been giving everything I have, but the tank is dry. I need You to step in and handle what I can’t. Help me to actually rest and let go of the need to be the hero. Let my mind shut down so I can recharge.
5. When You are Fighting the Need to Control
Lord, I hate that I can’t fix this. I’m trying to steer the ship, but I’m just making more waves. I’m handing the wheel over to You. Help me to stop white-knuckling this process and trust that You know the route better than I do.
6. When the Isolation Hits
Jesus, it is tough feeling like I’m in this by myself. Even if I’m around people, I feel like no one gets what I am going through. Remind me that I’m not actually alone. Send someone my way who can help carry some of this load, or just give me the perspective to know I have company.
7. When Fear Starts to Paralyze You
God, I’m scared, and it’s stopping me from acting. I don’t want to be a coward. Give me the courage to move even when I’m shaking. I know the best stuff happens on the other side of my comfort zone, so push me to take that first step.
8. When Your Brain Won’t Shut Off
Father, my head is full of “what-ifs” and bad scenarios. I’m trying to keep a good attitude, but the negativity is winning. Help me to cut the loop. Remind me of the good things that are still happening right in front of me so I don’t miss them while I’m busy worrying.
9. When You Need to Let Go of the Past
Lord, this current struggle is tied to old wounds, and it’s making everything harder. I don’t want to carry this baggage anymore. Help me to wash my hands of the resentment. Give me the strength to forgive, let the grudge go, and move on without looking back at the wreckage.
10. When You’re Ready to Rely on Him
God, I’m dropping the act. I can’t do this on my own, and I’m tired of pretending I can. Use this mess to show me what real power looks like. Take the lead, take the weight, and show me how to work through this with You in the driver’s seat.
