If you’re praying about a relationship, AWESOME. We need more people praying about their relationships. One can only imagine how the world would look if that happened.
Praying about a relationship can be a powerful way to invite God’s love and wisdom into your connections with others. Today we are going to look at a DIY Prayer Journal entry that I’m sure will help you define some context, connection, and communication in your relationship with the person you care about:
DIY Prayer Journal Entry Template:
- Date: Start by dating your journal entry. This allows you to track your progress and look back on your journey.
- Gratitude: Begin with gratitude. Reflect on the positive aspects of your relationship. Sometimes we can get lost in complaining. Start with identifying the good areas.
- Challenges: Acknowledge the challenges you are facing in your relationship. Be honest with yourself and with God about the difficulties, conflicts, or concerns you have. Pour out your heart and get it out of your mind. You’ll feel better.
- Prayer Requests: Write down specific prayer requests related to your relationship. What do you want to happen? What do you need to happen? Why?
- Scripture: Are you sharing any Bible scripture with your significant other? If so write that down next and reflect on what it means to you.
- Personal Reflection: Take some time to reflect on your own behavior and attitudes within your relationship. Are there areas where you can improve, be more patient, or show more love and understanding? This is not about winning an argument with God (You’re going to lose) but getting to the truth.
- Prayer: Now let’s pray. Find a place you can be completely focused on your prayer and then be honest with Jesus. Just tell it!
- Action Steps: Write down your next steps. What do you plan to do different in the days ahead?
