Today’s prayer for college students is a personal one. I, like so many of you have college students heading back for the Fall Semester. There’s a lot going on out there.
And it’s good to pray for your students not just at the college level, but also at the Primary/Middle/High School levels. Back To School Prayer Walks are a great way to do this. There was a Back To School Prayer Walk in Myrtle Beach recently. This shows Believers are realizing safety in schools will take God and God alone.

When our children leave us, we cannot make the assumption their safety is guaranteed. Satan is always working, and now more than ever in our schools. Last week the cousin of the Uvalde school shooter was arrested on allegations he threatened to commit a school shooting. Sometimes there are no reasons, just evil.
This week we will focus our prayer for college students. They are entering a world that wants to change them from the way of the Lord to the way of the world.
Prayer for College Students
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and hope. We lift up our voices in prayer for the parents of a college student embarking on the upcoming semester. As we seek Your guidance and strength, we turn to your Word. Lord, we thank You for entrusting us with the precious gift of our child’s education and growth. Just as You provided wisdom to Solomon, we ask for Your divine wisdom to guide us and our child throughout this journey (Proverbs 2:6). May Your Word be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. It should illuminate every decision we make (Psalm 119:105).
As our child steps onto the college campus, we remember Your promise to Joshua: “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9). May this assurance of Your presence bring comfort to our hearts and assurance to our minds. Lord, we ask for protection over our child’s mind and heart, guarding them against the distractions and challenges that may arise (Proverbs 4:23). Grant them discernment and understanding. This will enable them to choose the paths that align with You (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Our Prayer For College Students: Keeping Everyone Safe
We pray that our child will find favor and kindness in the eyes of professors, peers, and mentors. Just as Joseph found favor in the house of Potiphar (Genesis 39:21). May they be diligent in their studies and dedicated to their pursuits. They should strive for excellence in all they do (Colossians 3:23). In moments of uncertainty, remind our child of Your promise: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). May this assurance bring peace to their hearts and comfort to ours.
Lord, help us as parents to release our child into Your care, trusting that You are the ultimate guide and protector. May we continually pray for them, upholding them in Your loving hands. We know that You are faithful to watch over and provide for them (1 Peter 5:7). In this new season of their life, may our child continue to grow in faith, knowledge, and character. They should reflect the light of Your love in all they do (Matthew 5:16). We thank You for the privilege of parenting. We entrust our child’s journey into Your capable hands.
In the name of Jesus, we pray.
Amen.
