Consider Philippians 4:6, and pray about everything. Your Monday doesn’t have to start with groans.
You know, it’s really interesting when you ask why most people don’t take the time to pray in the morning, especially since we often talk about how beneficial it can be. For many of us, the simple truth is that our mornings are just a whirlwind of activity.
We’re rushing to get ready for work, prepare kids for school, grab a quick breakfast, and fight through traffic or a busy commute. The alarm goes off, and immediately our minds jump to the day’s tasks, the to-do list, and all the demands pressing in.
Prayer often feels like “one more thing” to squeeze into an already packed schedule, and frankly, we sometimes prioritize other immediate, tangible tasks over that quiet, unseen moment with God.

Why Pray About Everything?
What I mean by this is start this week – If you’ve never considered it, to believe you serve a mighty, complete God. I’m talking about the God who sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins. There is nothing He cannot handle.
Philippians 4:6 says:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
So how can we take this verse and apply it to Monday, while ensuring we pray about everything? Here are three ideas:
- The “Monday Morning Mental Dump”: As you wake up or prepare for the day, consciously take a moment to “dump” all your anticipated Monday anxieties and tasks into prayer.
- The “Spot-Prayer for Specific Stresses”: Throughout your Monday, pay attention to those moments when you feel a pang of anxiety, frustration, or overwhelm. Instead of letting it fester, immediately pause and offer a quick “spot-prayer.” Find a place, take time to pray right then. You could also keep a small prayer journal.
- The “Evening Reflection & Release”: Before bed on Monday night, take time to reflect on your entire day. Think about what went well, what was challenging, and what lingering worries you still hold.
A Monday Prayer To Encourage You
Heavenly Father, it’s Monday again and I have to get out there. I know you are my Provider. Help me remember that. I know you hear them when they disrespect me on the job, if I am overlooked for a promotion, or if they are considering me for a layoff. I know that you provide for me. Help me keep good perspective on my day by communicating with you daily. I know you hear my prayer, and I know you see me. Help me be better than yesterday, than last week. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
