Finding Faith means waking up with the hope to focus on being better than yesterday.
Not in a way that pushes us toward perfection or endless pressure, but in a way that invites us to trust God with today. Yesterday may have had its stumbles, but today brings fresh mercy. I don’t have to carry the weight of who I was yesterday because God gives me another chance to start again.

Why Being Better Than Yesterday Helps Me
I’ve realized that spiritual growth usually isn’t about big leaps. It’s the little things that make the difference. Maybe it’s choosing to pause before speaking in frustration. Or saying a quick prayer instead of letting worry run my thoughts. Or deciding to thank God for something small when I feel like complaining. These aren’t flashy, but they add up.
When I think about being better than yesterday, it helps me remember that God isn’t asking me to be perfect: He’s asking me to be faithful. That takes the pressure off. Yesterday’s mistakes don’t have to define today. His grace covers where I fall short and gives me courage to try again.
A Personal Prayer
“Lord, thank You for waking me up this morning. Yesterday wasn’t perfect: I made mistakes, I worried too much, and I let my mind wander into frustration. But today, You’ve given me another chance. Help me grow in patience, kindness, and trust. Teach me to see small victories as gifts from You. May who I am today look just a little more like Jesus than who I was yesterday. Amen.”
Taking Small Steps Forward
Here’s what encourages me: God isn’t measuring my growth by giant milestones. He notices the small steps. If today I can forgive a little faster than yesterday, that’s progress. If I can pray a little longer than yesterday, that’s growth. If I can face a problem with a little more faith than I had before, that’s victory.
So maybe you’re like me, looking back at yesterday wishing you had done better. Don’t let that weigh you down. Instead, bring it to God and let Him use today as a fresh start. Being better than yesterday isn’t about striving harder, it’s about trusting deeper.
