When I’m asked, What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life? my answer is simple: focusing on positivity. Every morning, I’ve learned that my day feels completely different when I start with the decision to see God’s goodness. For me, focusing on positivity means beginning with prayer and a mindset that trusts God more than my worries. It doesn’t mean I ignore problems or pretend everything is fine. It means I choose to believe God’s promises are bigger than the struggles I face.
Philippians 4:8 has become my guide: Think about what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. When I set my thoughts in that direction, my heart feels lighter and my outlook becomes brighter. Focusing on positivity helps me carry peace into my day, no matter what comes my way.

Why Focusing on Positivity Improves My Life
I’ve seen firsthand how focusing on positivity changes my perspective. Instead of letting stress or fear weigh me down, I look for God’s blessings. It makes me calmer, more hopeful, and ready to encourage others. When I practice focusing on positivity, I feel stronger in my faith and more able to face the unexpected with courage.
For example, I’m unemployed right now. Last year I was between contracts, sitting in my office depressed. Jesus asked me, “Is everything paid up?” and everything was indeed up to date. Then He asked, “What is it I have not provided for? Relax. It is ok.” A month later, I had another contract. That moment reminded me that His provision is always on time, and focusing on positivity keeps me steady while I wait.
How I Practice Focusing on Positivity Each Day
- I start the day stretching. Yes, stretching.
- I put on some instrumental music (City Pop Girl is my vice right now, lol).
- I talk to God out loud about my concerns in the morning.
- I avoid music with lyrics and don’t watch the news until later in the day.
- Before bed, I reflect on where I saw God at work and what I learned.
These habits keep me grounded and help me notice God’s goodness even in the ordinary parts of life. Focusing on positivity has become a daily habit that lifts my spirit and keeps my eyes on Jesus.
My Prayer For You
Lord I have so many reasons to be mad. I’ve been mad, but it didn’t gain me a thing. I know sometimes I feel alone in my perspective on the life you’ve given me, so please help me encourage everyone around me to trust in You as I do. It is hard as a husband and father to lead with Your vision when so many emotions get in the way sometimes. Help me Lord to keep focusing on positivity to make the days easy and the arguments and confusion less. Please help those who read this consider my words, and get prayer today.
