Finding Faith: Experiencing God When Everything Feels Temporary

Finding Faith begins each day by experiencing God through His Word to help us slow down and tune in to the quiet space around us. Today, we’re praying for those who feel like life is unraveling faster than they can stitch it back together. We’re traveling to 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, where Paul reminds us that what we see isn’t all there is—and thank God for that.

Wednesday July 30, 2025 : For the Ones Who Feel Like They’re Falling Apart: Let’s not sugarcoat it. Some days feel like a slow-motion collapse. You’re holding it together with duct tape and prayer, and even that’s starting to fray. Maybe your body’s tired. Maybe your heart’s worn out. Maybe your hope is hanging by a thread and you’re wondering if experiencing God means watching everything fall apart while He watches from a distance.

Spoiler: He’s not distant. He’s in it. Right there in the mess.

Experiencing God, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Experiencing God in the Middle of Decay

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:16–18:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Now, calling your troubles “light and momentary” might feel like a stretch when you’re knee-deep in grief, bills, or burnout. But Paul isn’t minimizing your pain—he’s reframing it. He’s saying, “Yes, this hurts. But it’s not the whole story.”

Experiencing God means trusting that the unseen work He’s doing in you is more real than the chaos around you.

When Renewal Feels Like a Joke

Let’s be honest: “being renewed day by day” sounds lovely until you realize it doesn’t mean instant transformation. It means slow, steady, often invisible change. It means God is working in you even when you feel like you’re stuck in spiritual molasses.

Experiencing God isn’t about escaping the hard stuff. It’s about finding Him in it. It’s about realizing that your soul is being strengthened even when your circumstances aren’t.

Finding Faith in Liturgy: A Moment of Prayer

  • Call: Finding faith isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about showing up—tired, honest, and still believing God is at work.
    • Response: God who renews and restores, Hold every heart that feels worn thin. Speak life into the places that feel broken. Help us fix our eyes on what lasts.
  • Call: For those walking through loss, change, and uncertainty— may peace be more than a concept, and hope more than a cliché.
    • Response: In You, we are being renewed. In You, we find strength for today. In You, we see eternity. Amen.

Experiencing God Is About Perspective

So today, if you feel like you’re wasting away—emotionally, physically, spiritually—remember this: God sees the whole picture. He’s not panicking. He’s not pacing heaven wondering what to do next. He’s renewing you, even now.

Experiencing God means trusting that the eternal outweighs the temporary. That the unseen is more powerful than the visible. And that your story isn’t over—it’s being written by the One who never wastes a single moment.
