Look past politics and pray for President Joe Biden

Regardless of what you think about him as President, he’s a person in a high level of power and position that needs prayer.

Praying for President Joe Biden is no different than praying for any other person. When you look past your political emotions you’ll see this is extremely necessary. Here’s a man who is currently the “Leader of the Free World”. In some circles, we’re watching him deteriorate before our very eyes, while in other circles he’s just fine and it’s the “cheap fakes” that has us all deceived. It’s not about what we think though, it’s about what we’ve been called to do for leadership regardless of political affiliation: Pray.

President Joe Biden, Biden for President, Joe Biden debates Donald trump, Debate Preparation: The presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees, Joe Biden and Donald Trump, are gearing up for their first in-person debate since 2020. Biden will take campaign briefings at Camp David this weekend, while Trump will also meet with policy advisors in preparation for Thursday’s encounter1.
Polling Results: President Biden received his “worst-ever” favorability rating in New York, according to a Siena College poll this month2.
Voter Trends: The proportion of people definitely voting for Biden in the 2024 election has declined in recent months3.

Why should we pray for Joe Biden?

Here are three reasons: First, it’s God’s Will that we pray for our President. This does NOT involve you liking him! This is about a person who has a significant impact (until that changes…) over our lives and the lives of our families. Second, we must LOVE the unlovable. If he has done something or said something you don’t like or believe in PRAY FOR HIM! We should be praying for the Holy Spirit of the Lord to cover that White House and remove whatever negative spirits are residing there.

Finally, how do we go about the work of the Great Commission if it is based on only those who align with our values? Reread the Scriptures, please. Reason with the following:

1 Timothy 2, Paul is urging Timothy to pray for everyone in leadership. It is written from verses 2-4 the following : First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

God through Jesus Christ desires us to pray for these people for the glory of God and to our benefit. Why? v. 4 tells us because it is God’s desire that all come to know him.

In your mercy, hear our prayers, O Lord. We trust in your sovereign care over President Biden and our nation. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.
