Psalm 121 Prayer for Confusion Around You

A Psalm 121 prayer is the call of the day as we conclude the first week of 2024. Maybe you’ve had some changes already happening in your life. Have you already been surprised by what God is doing or allowing to happen? And if so, how are you responding?

Psalm 121 Prayer, prayer for healing, prayer against confusion, lord I'm so confused help me be better, prayer against anxiety, prayer against worry. As the year's first dawn spills gold across the horizon, we turn our hearts in quiet communion, echoing the pilgrim's words of Psalm 121. "I lift my eyes to the hills," we whisper, acknowledging the vastness of the unknown year stretching before us. It's a year cradled in hope, yes, but also shrouded in the mist of potential storms. And that's where the psalm finds its strength. Each verse a handclasp, we ground our hopes in the promise that "My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." With each syllable, the fear of faltering ebbs, replaced by a steady rhythm of trust. This prayer, sung not in pews but in the stillness of a new year, becomes a shield against the uncertainties, a whispered assurance that every step, every stumble, will be held by the "everlasting arms." In this sacred chant, we find not just the courage to greet the year, but the grace to walk it, bathed in the unwavering light of the Divine.

This was the case for a friend of mine who recently told me a family member has reentered his life. Apparently this person was never the best of people. In fact, most of the family do not even like this person and yet the person has come back into their lives at a closer range. “Why would God allow this to happen? Knowing what kind of person we now have to deal with again at a closer connection? My thoughts raced, wondering what to say and how to say it (we often forget that part…) then the Lord spoke and gave me a truth that I share with you today:

Look past the person, the situation, and look to God. Easier said than done I’m sure. But what does a Psalm 121 prayer have to do with this? The Psalm is describing exactly what I’m talking about in the first few verses. It says in the beginning, ” I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.“ In other words, whatever the circumstance is, you have look past where you are and beyond. I know it’s hard, I know it’s difficult. And yet, God has the complete confidence in knowing that you will respond appropriately. Maybe you don’t even trust that person or hate the situation you’re in.

Trust God though. The same God who sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins. That God.

A Psalm 121 Prayer For Your Year

Heavenly Father, as we step into this new year, we lift our eyes to the mountains, knowing that our help comes from You, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. Grant us the wisdom and strength to face the challenges that lie ahead with grace and perseverance. May we approach each obstacle with a spirit of resilience and a heart filled with faith, trusting in Your unfailing guidance. Lord I know I may not always like the status you place me in, and most of the time you’ll find me complaining in frustration. Help me remember you are in control.

Lord, instill in us a better attitude towards life’s inevitable ups and downs. Help us to embrace each moment with gratitude, knowing that every experience is an opportunity for growth and learning. As we journey through the year, may we hold fast to the assurance that You walk alongside us, leading us towards a future filled with hope and purpose. Amen.
